Linden Polish Festival Set for September 21, 2024

Staff Report / Lindenlocal.org

The City of Linden is hosting its 5th Annual Polish Festival on September 21, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The festival will take place in front of Linden City Hall and the Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, located at 301 and 400 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ. If it rains on the scheduled date, the event will be held on September 22.

The festival aims to bring the Polish community together and offers a variety of activities and entertainment. Highlights include live Polish music featuring bands such as Slavic Invasion, Dzieci PRL-u, and SOVA. Attendees can also enjoy authentic Polish food, a beer and wine tent, children's activities, and shopping from Polish vendors.

The event is hosted by Mayor Derek Armstead, Council President Michele Yamakaitis, the City of Linden, Uptown Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation, with honorary patronage from the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York.

The Linden Police Department has issued a traffic advisory for the event. Starting at 8:00 AM on September 21, North Wood Avenue will be closed to truck traffic between Elizabeth Avenue and Blancke Street, and to all traffic between Blancke Street and Elm Street. Additionally, West Blancke Street will be closed between Wood Avenue and Helen Street. Parking restrictions will be in effect, and there will be higher than normal pedestrian traffic, so drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.

For further information, attendees can contact Council President Michele Yamakaitis at 908-494-0880 or Danuta Lisowska at 908-601-8598.
