Help Police Identify Armed Robbery Suspect in Akron

The Akron Police Department is seeking help from the public to identify a robbery suspect involved in a crime that occurred on Saturday, September 21. Officers received a call regarding the robbery at approximately 9:17 p.m. at a Family Dollar store located in the 1700 block of S. Main Street.
According to store employees, an unknown suspect entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded money at gunpoint. The suspect took an unspecified amount of cash and a cell phone from a store clerk before fleeing the scene eastbound on Palmetto Avenue. At the time of the incident, the suspect was reported to be wearing all-black clothing, sunglasses, and a black hat.
The Akron Police Detective Bureau is asking anyone with information about this crime or the suspect to contact them at 330-375-2490. Tips can also be submitted to the APD Tip Line at 330-375-2TIP or to Summit County Crimestoppers, Inc. at 330-434-COPS (2677). Individuals can remain anonymous.
Furthermore, people can send text tips by messaging TIPSCO to 274637 (CRIMES) or use the Akron PD app for additional submissions. Authorities advise against approaching the suspect if seen and recommend calling 911 instead.
