The City of North Port's Parks and Recreation Department has been recognized as a finalist for the National Gold Medal Award in the field of park and recreation management for excellence. The awards are presented by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association for the 2022-2023 period.

Although the North Port team did not win the Class III Grand Plaque Award, they expressed excitement and pride in receiving the Gold Medal Finalist plaque. The department congratulated fellow finalists and acknowledged New Braunfels Parks and Recreation as the winner of this year’s Class III award.
