The City of Buffalo, along with Erie County and the Towns of Amherst and Cheektowaga, is involved in a grant program from the US Department of Justice. This program is called the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) and is managed by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
The grant is a formula award that will be used to improve several areas of the criminal justice system. This includes initiatives for enhanced public safety with targeted patrols, upgrades in equipment and technology, and improvements in juvenile prosecutorial processes.
Residents can obtain more information or submit public comments by reaching out to the Buffalo Police Department Grants Office. They can be contacted via email at takniazuk@bpdny.org or by phone at 716-851-5456.
