Auburn Students Launch Third Year of United Way Initiative
Staff Report / FLXlocal.org
Auburn Enlarged City School District in Auburn, New York, has launched its third year of Student United Way, an initiative that encourages students to give back to the community. The year commenced with a meeting at the high school library, attended by returning members, District DEI Director Dr. Renee Burgess, and United Way of Cayuga County Executive Director Kathryn Dennis.
Student United Way focuses on addressing critical community issues, particularly in the areas of income and health. The organization provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills and learn effective problem-solving techniques.
In previous years, the group has worked on various projects, including establishing a personal care product pantry at the high school and volunteering with organizations such as the Salvation Army. This school year, prospective projects may include canned food drives and book drives.
Student United Way serves as an important platform for students to actively contribute to their community.
