Cayuga County Driver Arrested for DWI After Crash

**Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office Reports Arrest Following Vehicle Accident**

On September 8, 2024, at around 10:10 PM, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on Bear Swamp Road near Scott Gulf Road in the Town of Sempronious. Upon their arrival, deputies found a Cadillac SUV unoccupied in a ditch down an embankment.

The driver, 24-year-old Hannah P. Mcumber, who resides in the Town of Sempronious, was located nearby. It was determined that she was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident. Mcumber was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, both misdemeanors. Additionally, she faced various vehicle and traffic law violations, including having an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle.

Mcumber was taken to the Public Safety Building for processing and refused to submit to a chemical test to measure her blood alcohol content. She was held overnight at the Cayuga County Jail and was arraigned the following morning in CAP court. Mcumber was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sempronious Court at a future date.
