Auburn YMCA Hosting Chess Tournament on October 14
Staff Report / FLXlocal.org
The Auburn YMCA in Auburn, New York, will host a chess tournament on October 14, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM. The tournament is open to participants aged 10 and up, and non-members are welcome to join.
Participants will compete at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, using a 5-minute clock for each match. A winner is determined when an opponent is put in checkmate. If the game clock runs out, the player with the most pieces remaining on the board will be declared the winner. Games may also end in a stalemate, resulting in a draw.
