The Cayuga County Health Department recently held a successful Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Certification Course, attracting a full house. This course is part of a federal regulatory program that addresses the disturbance of painted surfaces that may contain lead-based paint, particularly in homes, schools, and daycare centers built before 1978.

The RRP rule requires that contractors and landlords obtain specialized training and certification to safely conduct repairs in environments where lead-based paint could be disturbed. This training not only emphasizes lead-safe work practices but can also provide contractors with a competitive edge in securing future jobs.
