Prepare Emergency Water Supply, Cayuga County Advises Residents
Staff Report / FLXlocal.org
Cayuga County Health Department is urging residents to prepare for emergencies by ensuring they have a sufficient supply of clean drinking water. The recommendation is to store at least 1 gallon of water per person, per day, for a minimum of 3 days. Residents are advised to account for additional water needs for pets and any household members who are pregnant, disabled, or have specific healthcare requirements.
In emergency situations, unopened, commercially bottled water is considered the safest and most reliable source. For those who do not have bottled water, the Health Department recommends using clean containers to collect and store water. Detailed instructions on how to create and store an emergency water supply can be found on the CDC's website at https://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/emergency/creating-storing-emergency-water-supply.html.
